My Teaching Philosophy

You will face many challenges, some fair, some not so fair.  It maybe that you made a bad decision or it could be that you are fighting an uphill battle against a "system" designed to hold you back.  Regardless of the reason it is a part of life.  My job as an educator is to enlighten you on how to succeed despite the adversity that may come your way.  How do you overcome a system that wants to oppress you?  You create a system that helps ensure you achieve your goals.  This system should include fighting harder, holding yourself accountable, prepare, constantly gain knowledge and be consistent in being efficient and effective.  Your decisions and what you make your priority will determine how far you will go in life.  I have high expectations for yourself and so should you.

Change Your Perspective

If they can do it, YOU can do it!!! Don't be a dreamer, be a visionary!!!
If you are curious about how to become an actor or just how to achieve your goals, look at the video above and then do some research on Tariq and Dre from the show Power.  Also watch interviews with Kevin Hart discussing his first book.  His story about his life is empowering and will help bring a different perspective to your life.   They all have interesting paths to becoming an actor and actress.  You will also find that they do more then just act.  How many things are you good at?  As you focus on your love, diversify and understand and build on your other gifts.  You never know what gift will make you a successful.

The City of Babylon

The great city of Babylon is an outstanding depiction of success and failure. Success is built on consistency, hard work, accountability and being relentless during adverse situations.  The majority of the citizens of Babylon followed the ideal; proper preparation is the key to success.   Babylon is located near modern day Iraq.  This city is an exceptional illustration of man’s ability to achieve great objectives since Babylonians used whatever means was at their disposal to succeed.   They did not focus on the adverse conditions that surrounded the city but adapted to them.  All resources that supported this glorious city were man-developed. All of its riches were man-made. This was a time when the lands were fertile and crops grew abundantly. During this era Babylon was one of the richest cities the world had ever witnessed. With hard work and dedication you can resemble the Babylon of success; or you can choose to be the Babylon of today.   This Babylon no longer exists and the lands currently lay dry, and barren with no water or life in sight.

The Temple of Learning

In the distant past schools or colleges did not exist, nevertheless the city of Babylon was extremely educated and wealthy. Thus proving education can bring wealth (when used correctly). Royalty, nobles and slaves all sought the power of wisdom and knowledge voluntarily. They all would meet as equals within the walls of the Temple of Learning to obtain this valuable resource. This is where the wisdom of the past was expounded by voluntary teachers and where subjects of popular interest were discussed in open forums. The humblest of slaves could dispute with impunity the opinions of a prince of the royal house.

This classroom is our "Temple of Learning" and everyone here is seen as equal as well as there views, philosophies and insights on the topic at hand.

Objectives of the Temple of Learning

Students will be required to peruse and discuss the curriculum through deliberation and dissertation.  In order for students to be successful this upcoming year, students must read, record notes, and be able to prove their hypothesis using historical evidence to support their views.  The objective is to arm students with the knowledge, resources and process to be a successful individual.
